About Alissa Nakamura

Alissa Maree Nakamura brings a combination her patients feel immediately: rigorous training, hands-on experience in one of medicine's most demanding fields, and the unmistakable warmth of someone raised in a place where community is everything. Born and raised in Maui, Hawaii, Alissa earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from California State University, East Bay, and her master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Touro University Nevada in Henderson.

She is board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Before joining Clinical Neurology Specialists, Alissa served Southern Nevada patients for three years in pain management — a specialty that overlaps neurology constantly. Chronic pain patients live with nerve injury, radiculopathy, neuropathy and post-injury syndromes; the clinicians who care for them learn to evaluate pain seriously, distinguish its sources carefully, and treat the person rather than the complaint. Those instincts transfer directly to her neurology practice, where so many patients arrive with exactly those conditions — and with histories of being dismissed.

At Clinical Neurology Specialists, Alissa practises full time as an advanced practice provider, seeing patients for neurological evaluation and follow-up in collaboration with the practice's five board-certified neurologists. The newest member of the provider team, she represents its next chapter: trained in Nevada, certified to the national standard, and committed to the Valley.

Frequently Asked Questions

About Alissa Nakamura

Training, scope of practice, and how to book.

How does pain management experience help in neurology?
The two overlap constantly. Chronic pain patients live with nerve injury, radiculopathy, neuropathy and post-injury syndromes, and clinicians who care for them learn to evaluate pain seriously, distinguish its sources carefully, and treat the person rather than the complaint. Those instincts transfer directly.
Where did she train?
Alissa earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from California State University, East Bay, and her master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Touro University Nevada in Henderson. She is board-certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and a member of the AAPA.
Does the practice offer interventional pain treatment?
No. Clinical Neurology Specialists operates no interventional pain programme, and epidural or other spinal injections are not performed here. Where interventional treatment is appropriate the referral goes out with the electrodiagnostic findings attached, so the target is chosen from objective data rather than symptoms alone.
Will I still see a neurologist?
Yes, where the clinical question needs one. Alissa sees patients for neurological evaluation and follow-up in collaboration with the practice's five board-certified neurologists. Advanced practice providers here extend expert care rather than substituting for it, and routing is by clinical question.
Is she accepting new patients?
Availability changes week to week and by clinician, so the honest answer comes from the booking call rather than from a page. Describing the symptom rather than requesting a named provider is usually what gets you the soonest appropriate appointment, and being flexible on office helps considerably.
Which office does she see patients at?
Both the Las Vegas and Henderson offices. Each carries the full set of six in-office studies and both hold the same records, so alternating between them restarts nothing. Ask at booking which has earlier availability, since that differs between the two.

Emergency & crisis resources: Clinical Neurology Specialists is not an emergency service. For stroke symptoms, a seizure lasting more than five minutes or any medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
