Founder & Medical Director

About Leo Germin

Some physicians earn one board certification and build a career on it. Leo Germin, M.D., FAANEM, earned three — and then built a practice that holds itself to the same standard. Dr. Germin is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Neurology and Vascular Neurology, and by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine in Neuromuscular Medicine, with additional subspecialty training and certification in Neurosonology and Neuroimaging.

His path here was anything but ordinary. Dr. Germin earned his medical degree from Vilnius University in Lithuania — the oldest and largest university in the country and one of the oldest medical schools in Europe — and practised internal medicine, anaesthesiology and hyperbaric medicine for ten years before immigrating to the United States. Rebuilding a medical career in a new country means re-earning everything: he completed an internship at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, neurology residency training through the WLAMC/UCLA Department of Neurology, and fellowship training in Neuromuscular Medicine at the University of California, San Diego.

In 1998, two years after arriving in Las Vegas, he founded Clinical Neurology Specialists on a conviction that still defines the practice: Southern Nevada deserved university-grade neurological diagnosis without leaving the Valley. Under his direction, CNS built AANEM-accredited electrodiagnostic laboratories at both locations and became Nevada's first physician-owned outpatient EDX lab to earn the association's exemplary status rating — a voluntary, peer-reviewed credential examining physician qualifications, equipment standards and study quality.

Dr. Germin serves the next generation of physicians as an adjunct clinical assistant professor at Touro University in Henderson, Nevada. He practises full time as both medical director and staff neurologist — seeing patients, performing and interpreting electrodiagnostic studies, and setting the clinical standard the practice answers to.

Frequently Asked Questions

About Leo Germin

Training, scope of practice, and how to book.

What is Dr. Germin board-certified in?
Dr. Germin is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Neurology and Vascular Neurology, and by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine in Neuromuscular Medicine. He also holds additional subspecialty training and certification in Neurosonology and Neuroimaging, which is the formal credential governing cerebral ultrasound.
What does Dr. Germin focus on clinically?
Neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic medicine, with special interests in cerebrovascular ultrasound, dementia, secondary stroke prevention and diseases of the peripheral nervous system. In practice that means he sees a great deal of nerve and muscle disease, and a great deal of stroke-risk evaluation and follow-up.
How long has he practised in Las Vegas?
Since 1996, and he founded Clinical Neurology Specialists in 1998 — which makes the practice 28 years old and independent throughout. He continues to practise full time as both medical director and staff neurologist rather than moving into an administrative role, and he performs and interprets electrodiagnostic studies himself.
What does the FAANEM designation mean?
It marks him as a Fellow of the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, an honour reserved for physicians with distinguished contributions to the field. It is separate from board certification and from the laboratory accreditation the practice holds, though all three point at the same body of expertise.
Which office does he see patients at?
Both. Clinical Neurology Specialists has two fully equipped offices, at 7751 W. Flamingo Road in Las Vegas and 1691 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson, and each carries the full set of six in-office studies. Ask when you book which has earlier availability, since it differs week to week.
Does he teach?
Yes. Dr. Germin is an adjunct clinical assistant professor at Touro University in Henderson, Nevada. Physicians who teach have to stay current and defend their reasoning to people who will ask why, which is a habit that carries directly into how a patient's diagnosis gets explained.

Emergency & crisis resources: Clinical Neurology Specialists is not an emergency service. For stroke symptoms, a seizure lasting more than five minutes or any medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
